Both countries suffered immensely at the hands of their new leaders. This is an easy statement to make. One could just as easily say the same thing about George Bush. The Baath regime was harsh. However, the Baath regime also did more for the people of Iraq than any other regime before. For example, they built the best health care system in the Arab world. This was nothing like the loot & pillage saga of the Shah in Iran. The indigenous populations of both countries were gleeful to be liberated by the US & UK, ET AL. Okay, now I see where you are coming from. Never mind. -g- Tom
