Apparently you have not kept up with current events. There
are few media outlets that haven't mentioned the horrific
oppression of the vast majority of Iraqi's while the ruling
Ba'ath party elite lived in luxury.

I would have thought that what was really happening in Iraq at that moment in history is that 22 million people has finally realised that two and a half decades of the most brutal and disgusting oppression was finally over. But then Al-Jazeera........
