Unfortunately, most of that crowd has now escaped with their liquid pools of capital, and will never have to bear the brunt of the aftermath of their greed.

It would be hard to find anyone with a big chunk of change that didn't put it into something that lost. They had to put that money back into something and they didn't all put it in government bonds. Some of the people I know who lost the biggest dollar figures are those who worked on WS. Of course that doesn't mean they don't have a pile left but when you lose your income you can't lower your overhead over night. Many are now living off their principle after a few years of getting their foot bit off dipping it into the market. I've also met any number of ex Nasdaq market makers who took their severance package and tried their hand at public trading only to go bust in less then a year.
