my scariest moment involves a delayed reaction...

when i was 12 years old, living on the 9th floor of an apartment building, i climbed over the balcony railing and stepped onto the ledge. it was about 4" wide, but i had a grip on the railing. i then made my way to where the balcony ended and the smooth, windowed surface began.

before climbing out there i had opened every window in the apartment, in order to give myself a handhold. i then continued on my spiderman journey along the 4" ledge, nine stories up, grabbing one open window frame after another.

this process soon took me to the open window of the adjoining apartment, where i was able to view the neighbor lady vacuuming her living room. if she would have ever glanced up and saw my smiling face outside her window, i suppose she would have had to call a carpet service to come clean up the mess!

but as i say, there has been a delayed reaction... obviously i was not scared at all when i was performing this little senseless routine. but when i grew to be an adult and looked back upon that window ledge trip i took, it's probably my life's scariest moment.
