.TigerPaw,

"Protective suits and antidotes mean only that a chemical attack was feared. Rumsfeld has made it clear that any Iraqi who knows where to find chemical weapons can get a lot of money and a get out of jail free card"

Fear of chemical attack by who? The US?

The United States has disavowed the use of lethal gas weapons. It's not even clear to me that the US used any during WWI when gas weapons were first introduced. It's not likely they feared it from us.

There is a reward for information leading to the weapons, but it seems reasonable to suppose that very few Iraqis would've been privy to this information, and some of them may have died in the conflict. Furthermore, those that do know about the weapons may be fearful or at least reticent to come forward. Remember, anybody who participated in gas use against the Kurds or Iranians may be regarded as war criminals.
