I do not think the Indians thought through the issues. Even if the carrier is meant for Pakistan's short coast line, assuming they realize their carrier cannot travel very far from Indian shores, a several million USD nuke-tipped ship-to-ship launched from a converted fishing trawler in disguise may be able to out class any close-in anti-cruise missile defense system. I mean, the fireball only has to be so big to make close-in defense too close:0)

It is not as if Pakistan cannot recruit enough very daring or suicidal missionary mercenaries.
