fl, thanks for posting the draft Iraq constitution. I wasn't aware it was available in English.

I think the substance of this draft will be acceptable to the Kurds, Christians, and other ethnic minorities, and also to the educated in general. But I also think the extreme Mullahs will reject it, and probably boycott or walk out of the constitutional convention. So then it will depend on what support they'll have.

I think it will also depend on when the convention is held. If it is in a year, after basic services are restored, and everyone is employed in rebuilding, it is possible the hard-line religionists will lose support. After all, they thrive in poverty and oppression.

I am very glad of the emphasis on equality and various basic rights.
