They have themselves.
We can't give freedom to someone who doesn't want it. You can put it in their hands, and they'll just drop it.
We can be an example, try to be a good example, and leave them alone. If they push us, push back, then patiently go back to leaving them alone.
In the fullness of time, there will be a sufficient number of Arabs who are willing to do what the people of Massachussetts did in 1776, and the people of Leipzig and E. Berlin and Moscow did around 1990, and what the martyrs of Tienamen Square did.
When enough Arabs can say, "Give me liberty or give me death", and mean it, they will have their freedom. But not till then. And nobody else can say it for them.
And all the heavy armour divisions in the U.S. Army, and all the smart bombs, and all the brave and clever Special Forces guys, aren't going to make that day happen one day sooner. |
