Dom - Re: Intel & SAP

Intel has recently adopted the SAP system for their in-house use. They apparently studied this system for quite a long while before deciding to adopt it.

The SAP system is an extremely good system for running large business sales/accounting enterprises with and Intel has recognized that. Actually, I think Microsoft and SAP have various marketing/sales relationships as well.

The SAP system, which can run on Windows NT then becomes a software vehicle from which Pentium Pro/Pentium II/Deschutes servers can be sold. Synergy is the operative word.

Intel, Microsoft, SAP AG - all benefit.

Further - I think SAP along with Hewlett Packard, Compaq and Microsoft are aiming at LARGE SCALE 64-bit MERCED deployment for big Enterprise sytems in the next year ot two. Thus, SAP applications may be critical to the early adoption of Merced clustered server systems when they appear.

Gates is still very much in focus.
