Time is the most precious thing we have- wasting it is foolish, imo. Waste will be differently defined by each person, but I spend mine carefully now, and when on SI I spend my time on posts I enjoy, by people I want to read. If I want to read someone I disagree with, I'll read someone really brilliant whom I disagree with (and whose work has had the benefit of an editor), as opposed to the people here with whom I disagree, who are definitely not brilliant.

And I'm not trying to be insulting- you can take it as an insult if you want, (and you know who YOU are), but most of the people who post here simply aren't up to the quality of folks who write for a living, and that's all I meant. If I'm going to read something I disagree with, I want it wonderfully well written, and vetted for accuracy. If I wanted to edit crap I disagree with, I'd go to work for the WSJ. Thank goodness I don't need to do that. |
