20 billion + in the bank, 16K employees, 70% GMs and 4.5 billion in revs per quarter... and the company has never been profitable. Sounds like funny accounting to me, on the "expense" side, which of course it is. Of course you can always take the position that somebody did once on another thread, that the only reason Cisco has any cash on hand is due to sale of stock. Obviously he wasn't aware of the latest quarter's GMs.
Lizzie, the facts are in front of you in Cisco's own filings if you only care to look.
Over its lifetime, Cisco has attracted about 7 Billions in profits net of expenses.
One of the first questions that should cross your mind is the remarkable fact that with 7 Billion in profits they somehow managed to have 21 Billions in the bank. Or in other words, they somehow came up with 14 Billion more than they earned!!!
How about you use some of the obvious intelligence it takes to be a software lead and answer the question, "where did the other 14 Billion come from?"
And ask yourself another question, did it start out as only 14 Billion when it arrived, or was it more? And if it was more, how much more was it?
Once you've formed an opinion on this then we might have a productive discussion. But until then, I fear we will be wasting each other's time.
