I agree, the shuttle needs scrapped at this time. I say it is time to focus on a colony on Mars. And to do that we should practice on the moon first since it is so close. Once we can land and takeoff from there we can learn to build structures there. By then the technology for faster space travel will shorten the time needed to go to Mars and back. That is where I think the focus should be. The space shuttle and space station are by and large a waste of money.

The space program is important but certain aspects of it should be stopped.
