First Congratulations to Amati supporters. Regardless of size, this contract is definitely a milestone.

Jim, unlike many of you, I don't have any motives. I don't have a position in Amati. I also don't have any relationship with any of the xDSL companies that benefits me in either material or immaterial ways. I think that's more than some folks can claim around here. So stop questioning my motives and look elsewhere. I bet you won't have to look too far.

As for deployment #s of 1-2k vs 10-20k. Are we splitting hair? Even though I would be extremely (though pleasantly) surprised if it were 10-20k before the end of 97, who cares? We are talking total US deployment and not just Amati, right? If true, it's totally meaningless as a number. Don't forget, we are half way into the 3rd Q. So there isn't too many months left.

>>>>I appreciate your posting of the first call, but like a guy baiting unsuspecting kids with candy, I'm keepng my distance.

Think what you like, but "baiting ususpecting kids with candy" would be more along the lines of: "GTE ordered manuals" and therefore Amati getting the GTE contract news is right around the corner type of posts.

The problem with this thread is that there is lots of fiction and very little fact. Speaking of which, Bloomberg had the contract news at 9:15am EDT. That's before market open. So saying it's not on Bloomberg as of 10:32 AM EDT is inaccurate. Either "the friends" feeding us facts are incompetent or have malicious intent. Pick your choice.

P.S. Fabonicci, during which 3 months did Dell stock go from 22 to 160?
