Hi Mark:
The internet phone will work ok , on the intrnet, very small delay,
most people will give up to soon, as the biggest problem is
modem speed for them..like I have a 28.8 and thats ok, it'l
do the job, BUT, it's the providers modems..belive it or not
most of the providers are stll running 14.4 or slower modems,
and they are not going to just toss them in the trash...
so that's the big hang up, AOL is so slow it hurts..
as they get the bugs out of this internet phone, and modem
speeds go up ( on both sides ) then it'll fly, but it might
get a bad rep early on..new providers are putting in faster
modems..but I don't know of any who have upgraded...that's the
rub..how fast is the modem your talking to at the server..
if I go onto a BBS i can tell the dif..as most sysops stay up to
speed , but not so with internet providers..as far as the internet
goes it'l be able to handel it..won't ever be like a regular phone
line but it'l come very close..however the quaity of the persons
voice will actually be better...digitized quality..the users will
learn to adjust to the slight delay..other than that it's going
to be real good..if they don't start taxing the hell out of it.
