"Letters from Babylon " follows the Screwtape Letters format popularized by C.S. Lewis. Dracma is the fictional demon Overlord of Babylon, the American empire. Dracma is sending reports to Satan, Lucifer, the angel of light, the Devil, the evil one who goes by many names. In these letters, Dracma lays out his plans for the last days deception for the American Church.
Please remember, this is just a spoof. This is not real! I am not Dracma! But it is deadly serious because Satan is out to deceive the whole world. If any of us think Satan's deception is going to be easy to detect, think again. It is going to be so good, so clever, so appealing that even the "elect" will be deceived! Hopefully, this series will help us see through Satan's designs... Now on to the Letters!

Subject: The Tale of Two Cities
My most Glorious and Illustrious Master, I would like to record for posterity my glorious history of success down through the centuries as we implement our plans. One might call this "The Tale of Two cities" - that wretched city "Jerusalem" and the glorious city of "Babylon". Many millennia ago you appointed me "Overlord of Babylon" - not just the ancient city but the glorious civilization we spawned and the progression of our evil intent down through history from one civilization to the next.
A few times it looked like our plot may be foiled. First, you were kicked out of the "Garden of Eden" (woops, sorry to remind you). Then we were populating the world with our "demon spawn" and the flood wiped that out. But soon after Noah, our man Nimrod established the Great City of Babylon and things began going great for us as we began to build the Tower of Babel, uniting the entire world around You, my glorious, notorious Master, to worship You and bring your kingdom to earth. Then, the whole world was thrown into confusion when suddenly people couldn't understand one another and spoke different languages and scattered to the four winds.
Well, not to be discouraged, we regrouped and gradually rebuilt our evil influence again with Nebuchadnezzar who built You a glorious city, known as one of the seven wonders of the world, the hanging gardens of Babylon, a monument to Your glory and power. We ruled the civilized world. We brought false religion at its very best - idolatry and worship of the image of the Beast! Our empire has always had three faces: political and military power, economic and commercial power and our glorious religion -- worship to You, the god of this world. I presided over this great kingdom from the "netherworld."
But alas, all good things must end so we moved west to Tyre and Sidon where the political and commercial empire was spread by the Phoenicians. Religious idolatry was rampant. Then along came the Greeks and that famous conqueror Alexander the Great who brought Greek Civilization into the lower Mediterranean. Now as overlord of Babylon, I used the spread of Greek civilization to advance Your idolatrous worship, and yes, commerce and of course, political conquest. As you may recall, it was at this point in time that I took the name "Dracma" in honor of the Greek currency - what better way to describe me than "money, money, money." It was an honor!
Along comes Rome, and I see an opportunity to spread our influence far beyond our Mediterranean roots. The Romans absorbed the religion, the commerce and of course, brought the best armies of the world. Finally, even after that temporary setback we had when "You Know Who" lived and was crucified, we established your throne in Rome at the very seat of Christendom and we were able to bring the entire "Western Civilization" into those wonderful "Dark Ages" when that "Book" was practically hidden from the people. Only a select few priests were allowed to read it. We kept that Christian thing pretty much in the hands of "professionals" - far from the reach of the common man. We were able to infiltrate the very bowels of the Church with our own rituals and practices. We brought worship of all kinds of idols, even the "mother" symbol, the Queen of heaven, relics, the sun, the seasons and all kinds of wonderful Babylonian practices. The Roman Church was ours to control. We had a great time and there was little opposition from those so-called "Christians." I was your right hand there in Rome as we polluted the world with our sorceries.
We rocked along in that wonderful darkness for a thousand years or so when all hell broke loose (pardon the expression) with the beginning of the Reformation. The worst thing that happened was getting that blasted "Book" in the hands of the people. All of the sudden, things seemed to be falling apart. We lost some ground, but managed to keep the Nicolaitan system (yeah for the professional clergy!). Most Reformation Churches such as the Lutherans and Anglicans were still connected to the State. In fact, they were "state" churches. I must personally take credit for a few innovations during that time period. The concept of the "Protestant Ethic" - worldly success equates to the blessings of God, for example. So we still managed to keep the church intertwined with politics, and spiritual and financial success together along with a good dose of Babylonian/Roman apostasy such as meeting on Sunday (great word, right?) and holy days such as Christmas and Easter. Baal, Ashtoreth, Athena, Isis, Zeus - doesn't matter what you call them, we just keep changing the names but protect the concept!
We managed to keep the world in semi-darkness at least and then along comes a big curve ball, a real challenge for us demonic guys and gals. They discovered the "New World". No problem! The lower half of the continent was kept under the shroud of the Babylonian (woops, I mean Roman Catholic) Church, but the upper half looked like it might get a little bit out of control. Well, a little Masonry here, a little enlightenment there and we were able to gradually avert a disaster.
We realized early on that Civilization was moving West, so I gladly picked up and moved my HQ (headquarters) to the spunky little country called "America". Although there was an evangelical fervor and sense of destiny to rule the world in that little country, I realized that with some work, I could subvert this little experiment and bend it to our ends. It wasn't long before Europe wore itself out with wars, and the New Babylon (Amerika) began to emerge.
I am proud to say that New Babylon has in fact, ascended to heights never known by any other empire before it in terms of wealth, religious fervor and military power. Remember Pax Romana when Rome ruled the world in peace for a thousand years? Well Pax Amerikana surpasses Babylon, Greece, Rome or any European nation in power, and might. The New Babylon virtually controls commerce in nearly every country of the world (or they are marginalized and irrelevant as Cuba), consumes forty percent of the world's products and controls all banking and flow of funds through the IMF, World Bank, etc. Her armies are in 120 countries around the world and the largest air bases in the world across Asia and in the Middle East. She spends more on her military that all the countries of the world combined! They are currently circling the great oil patch in the Middle East I know as "home sweet home" - Babylon, of course. And guess what? We are about to have a new "King of Babylon". Imagine that!
This is the country that represents the culmination of our plans, the last great empire, the "little horn" no one expects to usher in Your kingdom, my Illustrious Master. No other nation in history has the commercial, military or Christian religious zeal to dominate the world. No one can stand against her. No one can match her wealth! No one can match her sense of destiny, her zeal to bring the Christian faith, do good and bring truth, justice and the Amerikan way to the world at large.
Now, I must say, we are a clever team, about to spring the trap on an unsuspecting world and on unsuspecting Christians themselves who we have tried to subvert and deceive over the years. They won't know what hit them. They will never guess. As Overlord of Babylon, or "New Babylon", if you will, we have the consummation of Western Civilization, the climax before we take control and usher in Your Kingdom Oh Dark Lord and Master.
In the next few months, I will reveal our "end game" scenario and plans. Those sniveling Christians are putty in our hands and will never give up their riches, their split-level homes, spas, cruises and 401ks. Threaten their pocket book. Threaten their health. Let Hollywood dull their minds, the media spin the news and the politicians cleverly package their lies. They will never figure it out until it is too late! So until our next installment…

Most Illustrious Angel of Light! As I mentioned in my last letter, Christians are so naïve. They are putty in my hands. Now I have promoted a deception so clever that the dear Babylonian/Amerikan Christians will never figure it out. They will be on our side and never even know it.
Fortunately, they listen to the news, their preachers but don't pay much attention to the "Book" or "You Know Who". Over the past century or so, I have been able to weave a web of deceit that completely traps the average "evangelical American Christian". They are like flies in the web. They believe teachers who tried to make sense of prophecy before it could possibly make any sense. This is what the American Christians have been led to believe:
America is God's Gift to the World
American Christians have been brought up to believe that they belong to a special Christian nation, called and chosen by God to bring the good news to the world. Christians have been brainwashed to believe that America is a force for bringing the gospel, capitalism and democracy to the world. We have kept them absolutely blind to the real facts - that it has enslaved the world economically, polluted it morally and is now beginning to dominate the whole world militarily. They can't imagine that America could ever be a force for evil. They think America is bringing peace and prosperity to the world. We have them thoroughly convinced! They can't conceive of anything different. Hardly any understand what is going on behind closed doors.
They Believe Their Leaders are Good
Christians naively believe that an American leader who claims to be a "born again" Christian really is what he says he is. They take what the media tells them at face value, always wanting to believe the best. Bless their deluded little hearts. They are blinded to what their leaders have actually done in their past, who they worked for, boards they sat on, decisions they made, what they really stand for and who pulls their strings. The media we control cleverly spins out exactly what we want them to believe so they see Bush, Rice, Ashcroft, Powell and all as a team of "God fearing", church-going men and women who are working for world peace rather than world domination. They believe they are going to free Iraq from the tyranny of Saddam and either don't grasp or care that thousands of innocent people will suffer and die as "collateral damage." And of course, oil and other U.S. interests in the region have nothing to do with the liberation effort. They believe their leaders would never lie or manipulate them….naïve, naïve, naïve!!!!!! They so quickly forget Pearl Harbor, the Gulf of Tonkin, Bosnia, Kosovo, agent orange, and uranium hardened bombs and the Gulf War Syndrome. I love it! The fact is, they are clueless! They want to believe the best, bless their little hearts! Works right into my plan, thank you very much!
Prophecy - an Academic Exercise
Many evangelicals have been taught that they will "rapture" before any trouble begins. This doctrine is called the pre-tribulation rapture. If Christians aren't going to be here, prophecy is academic but no practical interest. The poor slobs will misinterpret events as they begin to happen. They will reason, "this can't really be happening or we would be long gone. We know God can't allow us to suffer." We have cleverly led them into self-deception so that they can twist the Book to fit their little doctrine. This has been a really big part of the deception. A guy named LaHaye wrote a series called "Left Behind" that has sold millions of copies. I'm so glad! What wonderful apathy it builds - "gee those poor folks "left behind", but we're long gone. Whoopee!! Why worry?" This is one of our most clever deceptions! I'm so proud of it.
The Church Takes Over!!!
The idea that Christians should take dominion is not a new idea and it fits right into our plans. The Roman Catholic Church has always believed in world domination. But recently, many mainstream evangelicals have come to believe the Church is supposed to take dominion over the earth for the sake of "Christ and the Church". Now this plays right into our hands. Our man comes to power with the help of the "Christian right". They believe he is one of theirs, a real Christian. Most Christians can't conceive of this. They think he's a guy with horns, a real bad dude! Well, what part of "deception" don't they understand? We also have them convinced that the antichrist is coming from anywhere but America - Europe, Egypt, Russia, the UN, Iraq. They don't expect this great leader to look and act like a Christian. They expect him to be "New Age" heathen - espousing a new religion. Because of this basic misunderstanding, none of them expect what is coming. What part of "even the elect will be deceived" don't they understand? So when our man comes in on the Christian agenda, with Christian backing, talking, sounding and acting like a "Christian", these idiots will be totally blindsided. Here comes a Christian leader, who is charismatic as hell (pardon the pun) comes along and is going to save America from immorality, terrorists, the heathen hoards trying to get through her borders and is going to save the world for Christ and the Church, democracy and capitalism, etc. etc. They will absolutely love it! They will fall in behind our guy without question.
No America in Prophecy
Now another good reason they don't have a clue is that American Christians have been led to believe that America does not appear in prophecy so it is either irrelevant or has to be removed so the real business of end times prophecy can begin in the countries that represented the Roman Empire. So if America can't be found in their book, there is nothing to worry about. Now we know that America is an extension of Europe, a part of the Greco-Roman culture, language, legal and religious tradition. Besides being an extension of Europe, America has inherited many of the occult Babylonian traditions we so cleverly allowed to be passed on from generation to generation. So how could Christians write off the most powerful economic and military power the world has ever seen? They neither understand history or America's real designs for empire. They are deceived! No one sees it! They preach patriotism from the pulpit! They are convinced that America is God's gift to the world! I did a great job! They are looking for the antichrist everywhere but in America. It is impossible for them to conceive, but even their own book says the Church will be apostate (fall away). Oh well, we are very fortunate they neither read nor understand their own Book.
America is on God's Side Because it Supports Israel
They actually believe that because the American government "supports" Israel, it is a sign that they are on God's side. They don't understand the fact that the nation that signs the Treaty of Hell and Death with Israel, is Babylon the Great! They are so intent on blessing Israel, they are falling into the trap of bringing about her eventual destruction at your hand! This will trap "Messianic" Christians and Jews especially. There is no doubt that Israel has few friends in the world (he! he! - the pitiful people of "You Know Who"), but they never stop to think why Amerika is their friend and what the "ultimate solution" is. Again, I say it is a good thing they don't read or understand their Book. What a wonderful deception this is!
I have to tell you Master. American Christians really believe they are THE SOLUTION, rather than THE PROBLEM. They don't have a clue that they are falling right into our little trap. Fortunately, they don't read the Book with spiritual eyes. Most don't really have much of a personal relationship with "You Know Who". They are lukewarm, sleeping like babies, like lambs being led to the slaughter.
Well, until my next letter Illustrious Master, I have to run to one of those "Religious Right" meetings to make sure it "stays on agenda." Until later…

Subject: The Clever Ruse
Illustrious evil master! I have these Christians wrapped around my little wing. The greatest ruse of all is that I have them believing the exact opposite of true to be true. So as our deception unfolds, they will take the bait hook, line and sinker. Now as you know, as Overlord of Babylon/Amerika, I can trick my subjects coming and going with regard to the true identity and nature of their country. Some of the Christians believe that America has been chosen by "you know who" to save the world. Still other Christians believe that since America is not found in prophecy, it has to be brushed aside. Now I have cleverly spun the two tales so that most will believe either one or the other. Let's look at each position. It doesn't matter which side they take. Both play into our hands!!!
Amerika, the Savior Nation
Most American Christians have been brought up to believe by parents, church and schools that America is a very special nation, chosen by G_d to be a force for good on the earth. Now the key to a good deception is to get them to believe one thing and do another. Right? Well, all the time they think they are bringing their "CDC" to the world (CDC stands for Christianity, Democracy and Capitalism), they are in fact extending our empire and control over the whole earth. Since the end of the Great War (WW II), the U.S. spread its influence through the whole world by buying up controlling positions bankrupt business and industry in Japan and Europe and then by opening American markets to their products. This scheme got Americans hooked on cheap foreign products and the world hooked on the dollar. Then we created a "straw man" enemy called "communism" for Amerika to fight around the world extending its political, military and economic influence. Economic control came through the IMF, World Bank and corporate boardrooms - a global empire controlled by Babylon (Amerika) the Great!
With the fall of "Communism", Amerika needed a new enemy and excuse to spread military intimidation and economic hegemony throughout the world and found it in "terrorism" - a wonderfully amorphous enemy no one can easily see or find, but that is everywhere and nowhere - that can strike at any time in any place. Plus, we can connect terrorists to Islam! Yeah! Back to the best kind of war - a holy war! Pit the two miserable religions against one another! There is no better war than a war between civilizations with crusading fervor of religion! Just think of the zeal the two sides can have as they go for each other's throats! Wipe each other out in the name of their G_ds! What a deal - like killing two birds with one stone!
So here's what we did. We got the "fat cat" elites, who had all the money but no votes together with the "Christian" leaders who could provide the votes but had no money. We mix in a little patriotism, family values, morality and the fear of Muslim terrorists who would think nothing of strapping a bomb on their bodies and blowing themselves up and taking as many as possible with them. Then we add to the mix Israel and the fear of losing the "Holy Land," as the Jews are annihilated by a billion fanatics carrying out a "Jihad" against them. Then we add a little doctrine we have recently been able to "mainstream" in evangelical churches and that is the idea that the church has to establish dominion over the earth before "you know who" can come back. This plays right into our hands! Big business, Christians and the Amerikan government unite to bring salvation to the world! What a plan! And they do it in the name of G_D - not realizing it is for You, the god of this world behind it all!
So, here we go - whipping the churches into a patriotic frenzy in a civilization conflict of worldwide proportions! Good guys against the bad guys! Bringing truth, justice, capitalism and democracy to the world! What a deal! And those naïve, trusting Christians believe every word of it. They listen to their pastors pump out the patriotic blather week after week as they send their young people off to fight a holy war! The flock goes out and buys sheets of plastic and duct tape to get ready for the worst but believing good will surely triumph over evil!
Amerika, the Irrelevant!
Well, I realize this is terribly clever, but not all Christians buy into it so, my Illustrious Evil Master, I have another game plan. Some of the old-line evangelicals still believe in two basic things, which play right into our little scheme. We have convinced them they won't be here and that Amerika is not found in prophecy. Now this little slight of hand (making the worlds greatest empire disappear) would make Houdini or David Copperfield green with envy! How do we do it? Remove the Christians by the rapture or destroy America, or do both. Some actually feel that since America is the most "Christian" nation in the world and that by removing the best from the land, it will be reduced to a banana republic. Now let's look at this deception in more detail.
Old-line evangelicals believe that they, the true Christians, will be snatched right out of the world just before you come to power. I call it the Great Escape! Yep! They exit "stage left." The subtle part of this is that if they are gone, why care what happens next? As a practical matter, this little doctrine of the rapture makes the whole issue of "our agenda" irrelevant to them because they think they aren't here. The "unsaved" are "left behind". (Hey, cool name for a Best Seller, isn't it?) So I pave the way for "Your Man" to come to power with their support, do a deal with Israel and they never suspect a thing… because after all, this couldn't really be happening since they are still here! So we just pull the old wool over their eyes and the unsuspecting sheep are led to the slaughter!!! What a plan!!!!!!!!!!
We don't want them to ever suspect something is up, because if they ever saw Amerika for what she really is - the inheritor of the mantle of Babylon the Great, the greatest economic, military, political and even "religious" power the earth has ever had, our little scheme would be exposed…(no, no, we don't want that)… Let the little crusader rabbits strut around thinking they are doing G_d's work! But we have to throw a little more chicanery to the mix. Their "so called" Bible scholars are so dense, their pastors and teachers have been telling them for years - don't worry. Amerika is not mentioned in prophecy! Its not there! Nope, the problem is anywhere but there. Amerika is a Christian nation. The antichrist will come from Europe, Russia, the Middle East, but certainly not the old U.S. of A. They say, "after all, our forefathers came here to find religious freedom and to build a "republic, one nation under G_d with liberty and justice for all." Amen. That brings tears to my eyes! But they actually believe it.
This gets a little complicated, but I can twist and turn the concept to fit each particular disposition. Some feel that since you can't find a word about America in the Bible, it just doesn't matter. Others believe Amerika is a sinful nation and needs to be wiped out by judgment so Europe can take her rightful place in prophecy. Whatever. Since they can't find a specific reference to Amerika in the Bible, they assume it isn't there and is not important. They have been taught the great end time power will be Europe or some other country (good thing they missed the "little horn"). So they just dismiss it. If it ain't in the Book, it ain't worth worrying about. At least, so their "scholars" conclude and teach.
Few see her true nature, the evil we have sewn into her fabric. Now here's the deal. We create the problems - crime, drugs, rebellion, ruin of the family and all and then we come up with the solution - a righteous government that does away with abortion, gets tough on crime, promotes family values and fights the ungodly terrorists! We ruin the Christians by bringing unprecedented prosperity to America and then make the offer of freedom and prosperity to the world…and of course, the world covets that wealth.
So we get the Christians to be comfortable, fat and lazy. We bring along a terrible enemy - terrorism, an evil bloodthirsty religion and nations to comprise an "axis of evil". We declare war on the unrighteous, ungodly and offer to cut them in on the "good life" or else. We lull Christians to sleep with the comfortable knowledge that if the antichrist were to come to power they would be gone before hand and that Amerika is the only force for good left in the world so it certainly couldn't be a problem. Some think that perhaps "good" Amerika will be destroyed after their "great escape" which will give the real antichrist his opportunity to come to power in Europe, Russia or even Iraq. But they can't conceive of the fact that the church and Amerika could possibly be the problem - that the Christian leaders and mainline churches are backing the business elites and Amerikan government in their world conquest. They are in denial! It never could be!
So you see, the deception is complete. Christians are unwittingly on our side, supporting our rise to power and working toward their own demise. I would call this nothing less than brilliant! I am convinced, illustrious Master, that we can rewrite the "Book" - and come up with a much better ending. So working to that end, I will share more of my dastardly deeds with you next time…
