Company Press Release

MEMCO Software introduces Proxima - addresses need for secure single
sign-on and user administration *T

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 19, 1997--

Partnership Adds Strategic New Component

MEMCO Software Ltd. (Nasdaq:MEMCF), a leading provider of
information security software solutions, today introduced Proxima(TM),
a new product line which provides secure single sign-on and
enterprise-wide security administration. With Proxima, organizations
will finally be able to eliminate user frustration, streamline
administration and enhance overall security associated with access to
systems and applications. MEMCO representatives will be discussing
Proxima today at the Gartner Group Information Security Conference in
Chicago.
"Proxima is the first product that truly focuses on users by
addressing applications and systems from the users' point of view,"
commented Eli Singer, president of MEMCO Software Inc. "Today, users
can't be fully productive because they have to keep track of too many
IDs and passwords. Administrators are burdened with trying to manage
a growing amount of users who need access to applications. Proxima
addresses these needs with a flexible and scaleable solution."
The Proxima suite consists of two products, Proxima SSO and
Proxima Manager. Proxima SSO (Single Sign-On) automates user login
with single sign-on to all authorized applications and systems.
Proxima Manager enables central management of user account and
resources in distributed multi-platform environments.

Strategic Partnership

As a key component to Proxima, MEMCO has expanded its partnership
with EagleEye Control Software (a fully owned subsidiary of New
Dimension Software) and has licensed the MultiPlatform Control-SA(TM)
product. Control-SA is the premier solution for centralized user and
resource management for a variety of applications and platforms--from
desktops to mainframes. MEMCO will utilize Control-SA as the core
technology for the Proxima Manager product under a private-label OEM
relationship.
"We are pleased to be working with MEMCO Software to deploy
MultiPlatform Control-SA in conjunction with Proxima SSO," commented
Zohar Pearl, vice president of sales and marketing at EagleEye
Control Software. "By licensing and integrating Control-SA into the
Proxima suite, MEMCO can provide customers with a comprehensive and
complete solution."

Proxima SSO

In today's distributed computing environments, users typically
need to sign-on separately to many different systems and applications
during the course of their day. Each system requires the user to
enter a different ID and password for authorized access. In order to
remember this information, users often simplify passwords or create
password `cheat sheets'-both of which undermine security. Forgotten
user passwords result in significant amounts of wasted time by help
desk and system administrator resources.
Proxima SSO provides users with a Familiar Desktop which is
accessed via a single ID and password. A variety of user
authentication methods are supported including tokens and smart
cards. From their Familiar Desktops, users simply point-and-click to
access any authorized application or system. Behind the scenes,
Proxima SSO validates user access by interfacing with the target
application using one of many authorization methods, including
application passwords, tokens, tickets or One Time Passwords.
Proxima network traffic is secured to avoid the traditional risks of
transmitting clear text passwords. Management of authorized user
systems and applications, as well as associated IDs and passwords is
centralized for simplified administration. Proxima offers a
scaleable framework that adapts to meet changing customer needs.
"The problem of single sign-on has existed for many years. As
organizations continue to move towards distributed client/server
computing and Web-based applications, the problem will escalate,"
comments Lina Liberti, product marketing manager at MEMCO. "We have
studied this market very closely and watched as other companies
failed to provide adequate solutions. Proxima solves the many
problems associated with user access-it addresses the needs of users,
the concerns of security and the costs of administration."

Proxima Manager

Today, system administrator effort is compounded by multiple
users with multiple accounts and passwords. With even a few hundred
users, a system administrator can spend the majority of his/her time
managing and resetting thousands of IDs and passwords. Adding or
removing an employee from a computing environment requires the
administrator to manually access all the appropriate systems and
applications. It can often takes days for new employees to get the
access they need and forgetting to remove an ex-employee from even
one application can leave behind a security hole.
Proxima Manager streamlines security management and addresses the
critical question, "Who has access to what?" It eliminates the
complexities associated with performing account administration in
different environments. With Proxima Manager, an administrator has a
central point for managing hundreds or thousands of user IDs and
passwords for both platforms and leading applications. These
powerful capabilities not only save time and lower costs but help to
avoid careless mistakes which can threaten security.

Availability

MEMCO has worked closely with several large organizations to
ensure that Proxima meets their needs. The product is currently in a
controlled release and will be generally available in the fall of
1997. Pricing will be announced at that time.
