China's biggest fear regarding SARS is that the disease will migrate into its rural provinces, where health care is meager at best, and non-existent at worst. It now appears that the disease is already present in a scattered few of these rural provinces, so the countdown on a major epidemic may have already begun. China is ill-prepared for an epidemic in its rural areas, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
