Hi Maurice, I am now in a Hot Zone. China World Office Tower I, 18/F, an office in the same complex as my hotel, is sealed off and off limits.
The exit from aircraft, passing health station, through immigration, across baggage hall took all of 10 minutes, all of it on the move with zero wait time.
The big plane had 45 folks and 16 crew.
The main building of the hotel is at 4% occupancy. The cheaper but window can be opened extension building has 31% occupancy.
I took hotel limo pickup. The taxis in Beijing are doing nothing, all lined up with no where to go.
Airport personnel were basically lounging around chatting, sitting on conveyor lines that are not in motion.
Simply amazing. And folks are bitching about the leadership, and their lack of same.
All in all, I am thinking this is still inexpensive education, as we could have been dealing with air transmittable Ebola or something even nastier.
The police in Beijing are now interchangeable with hospital ambulance. Call them and say you have a fever, they will arrange transport to hospital just as ambulance service would.
