So many scary moments and so little time.

I think it was about 1978 and I was driving home from work. I hear on the radio that there is a tornado on the ground in Hallie which is where I am at on the hwy. I look to the west and there are 2 tornados down and coming at me but I think I can out drive them so I unlimber the Challenger a bit and commence to doing the 100mph thing. I get beyond where those 2 are likely to cross the hwy so I continue north when they talk of another tornado on the ground by Chippewa which I can also see. I think I can beat this one also so we step the speed up a little more and continue on wondering what the hell is going on in the world with the weather. I am to my exit on the hwy when about 1/4 mile away a funnel drops out of the cloud like magic and I can see this one will be on me before I can stop the car if I don't act fast. After coming to a screeching stop I bail from the car and this thing is flippin huge and about 150 yards from me. I jump down over the bank of the off ramp and duck as this possessed SOB roars right over the top of my head. I look up at the absolute center of the thing maybe 25' over the top of my and it's like staring into the depths of hell. It cross's over the top of my head and descends again and slams into the closed hotel that is about 200 yards away and the thing just explodes like several bombs went off. I sit there a few minutes and light a cigarette with shaking hands and watch this thing from hell as it makes it's way across the county. After I collect myself I remember I picked up beer and it's in the car and one is going to taste very good at this moment. I walk back up the bank and no car. I look all over the place and see it on the other side of the hwy sitting like it was parked on the side of the road and it's silver. Totally sand blasted and purple no more. I walk across the hwy and hop in and it fires right up, sucked the bottom out of the first beer, whipped a shitty and drove up the down ramp and went home.

Quite the night.
