Thouroughgood Marshall (I KNOW I screwed that spelling up) was his own man, Colin Powell certainly (and he is conservative after all). But Rice and Clarence Thomas, yuck. Rice especially, seeing her up there barking about those aluminum tubes was too much. Does she have a mind of her own or does she just regurgitate whatever the Bush PR folks say is on the menu today? I haven't heard her blast the "plastic shredder" soundbyte so maybe she finally learned something. Powell is too smart to behave like Rice.
