Or am I just asking for another whack? The Nazis accuse me of being a Zionist and the Zionists accuse me of being a Nazi. I figure that means I must be right! :-)

The idea is that a settlement would be IMPOSED by an outside coalition of nations willing to go to the mat with any ME nation (including Israel) that breaks its terms.

And so the rest of us can get some peace without being disturbed by constant rumbling and fracases in the ME.

I find the idea of Israeli imperialism amusing. I think there is a core piece of real estate that Israel wants to keep control of. Beyond that, they have taken territory to increase their own security as the Arabs forced the matter. The Golan Heights used to be a favorite place for the Syrians to rain artillery shells onto kibbutzes below. Then (in the '67 war, I believe) the Israelis took it and kept it to stop the shelling. And to my knowledge, they have fired no artillery into Syria from there.

And, considering Syria's record, I could see letting Israel keep the Golan Heights.
