llmarinen, I admit that you can fine tune multi party to avoid the abuses if you get it right the first time. Get it wrong and the splinters will forever refuse to allow any reform that limits their powers. Look at Israel, doomed to permanent war due to ultr-religious groups, who will not fight and do not join the army, but want a hard line. How long can it persist before the dangers get extreme and a loss ensues? Remember the ARabs have made a career out of losing, but israel cannot afford a single loss. As for what have the pols learned? How to use TV and the web to keep power with the old appeals to stupidity. There are always stupid people who will vote for another stupid person and the smart ones are so sick of pols that they do not vote. That does not sound smart. A few years of 95% turnout would change the USA forveer, world too. Bill
