Trust is an interesting concept. People vary widely on how easily they first give it. Once given, it's easy to keep - just don't ever violate it. Once violated, it's (near?) impossible to regain. There's a relationship of trust between the governing and the governed. Once the "that woman" lie was obvious to all, Clinton may have retained the title, but his presidency was over. The trust was gone. It didn't matter whether you cared about his sex life or not. When "push comes to shove", without that trust, no president can govern.

IMO, this administration has violated the trust the American people have given it. If that belief ever becomes commonplace, Bush II is history.
