The only model that allows for survival, let alone prosperity or freedom, is the EU model, not the Napoleanic model.
Behind this "EU Model", are the same old bs economic special interests and convenient support of thugs calling themselves leaders of nations who have this or that natural resource that needs exploitation.
While I agree that this unilateral action theorized and put in practice by Rumsfeld is simply not workable long term, nobody on this low world of ours has any moral standing to give out lessons to others, certainly not this "Old Europe".
Even in the civilized, safe West, order is kept by police, and an absence of police for a length of time would lead to chaos. But worldwide, there is effectively a lack of any such law enforcement ready to act in a timely manner, so most of the world is like these housing projects the local authorities rarely dare venture into, and only when absolutely necessary, and where gang leaders rule things.
I have no idea what would ever motivate the world at large to reach the kind of consensus to allow creation of such a global order keeping police, one that would react swiftly and decisively to the beginnings of genocides for example, and with the necessary checks and balances, but I think this is something that will be necessary given human nature. |
