Sorry for not replying--I've been running around.

Zonder--Once again I must point out that I'm not a Bush fan. I thought his case for invasion was weak and that it should, with world backing, require responsibility for crimes agaqinst humanity. The amount of torture that is confirmed is staggering. WMD have now been verified, as will be Saddam's connection with al Queda. So, it looks like Bush has been correct all along and the french have been wrong all along.

The task of the coalition is immense: bringing Western political values to an essentially 3rd world country. Altho daunting and perilous, this can be an opportunity to provide a model for other ME countries. Before accusing me of being patronizing, it is my contention that allowing opposition demonstrations is infinitely superior to torturing opposition. If you think we should allow people to continue torture because we are interfering with their culture, than we disagree. Those people tortured would probably not mind the interference.

Given the huge costs to the coalition and the rejection by the french to participate, I see no reason for them to benefit economically. They already made their profits on the nuclear reactor.
