What makes you think we were not controlling their actions?

We did not make them do anything in response to Iraq.

I think Bush very much manipulated the UN so that he could invade Iraq the way he wanted to.

He could have invaded it without having gone to the UN. He was going to invade and if the UN would support it, it would be icing on the cake, but Bush was going to eat the cake with or without icing.

Bush went to the UN because the American people wanted him to go to the UN. At first he had no intention. And when he finally decided to go, he sabotaged the process by stating it was his way or the highway.

Defending Bush's actions at the UN is a waste of time.

While I think this stinks, its not the same as what happened in Iraq.

Not the same but its one of a long line of interventions -

An older, much more brutal one happened in Algeria.

Even after France gave up on having colonies in Africa and elsewhere it basically set up puppet governments for awhile, and still tries to keep certain ex colonies relatively dependent on France. It frequently meddles in Africa.

So, then what are you saying.......that two wrongs make a right?

France was one of many countries opposed the US intervention. Everyone's jumping on France because its easy to not like them but they did not stand alone by a long shot.

And frankly, I am getting very tired of hearing that we need to boycott the products of every country that doesn't agree with us. Its getting to be a joke.
