The US will not leave Iraq until they set up a stable government. Regardless of the number of terrorist attacks. We're attacked every few days in Afghanistan, and I don't see anyone packing their bags there.

Look at the list of contracts awarded in Iraq, I just posted it. Think about the number of civilians that we are going to have over there once these things begin to move. That is the vulnerability. We can live with our soldiers getting attacked, but reconstruction will require placing a huge number of American civilians in harm's way.

Professional aid workers and military men, which account for a large part of our presence in Afghanistan, accept this risk. The civilian workers that Iraqi reconstruction will depend on may not.
