I had one course in Fractals -- I'm an idiot who can only make conversation on the subject -- I'm sorry. It's just that whenever some new hot thing comes along -- it's the thing to explain everything.

It's a shame really -- because there are some real nice examples of physical systems that are described very well by chaos theory.

This is also the government's fault -- folks who do science have to be such salesmen.

Nano-tech is all the rage -- even though it really isn't a discipline in its own right, but just a hip sounding name that some guy applied to his work to sell it to the government to get more funding. Scientific American devoted at least two issues to it -- bunch of hogwash. One good article in the bunch talking about the limits of what can be done at small scales, written by a chemist -- you can get all the other carp online, but not that rebuttal.

And so it goes ...
