the ability to reason critically is way more important, imo, than the ability to do wizardy math. that ability plus some pretty rudimentary "math" skills can get you into pretty deep complexity, pretty quickly, as wolfram's recent tome shows.

funny how those conway "game of life" plots look an awful lot like point-and-figure charts. -g-
