Isn't it the case that bankruptcy reorganization will hurt the executives far more than the rank and file? Wages are protected. Fat-cat golden parachutes aren't, are they?

Sad that it's come to this, but Wall Street is choked with grotesquely high executive salaries and unconscionably generous perqs. If the AMR mess helps reign in the outlandish compensation packages that have outraged Warren Buffett ($100 K per year) and others, it will be for the best. But don't bet on it spreading very far. Nothing much by way of serious reform in other companies is likely to happen until the mutual funds and institutions step up to the plate and 'just say no.' And the only reason they're likely to do it is if they get good and truly sued by their retail investors on some sort of breach of fiduciary duty theory based on incestuous relationships. Everybody's too consumed with scratching each others' backs.
