of course foreign policy has to be examined within the context of 9/11...

the economic cost from that event at the time and ongoing almost is beyond calculation...i see no way the political realities can be divorced from the markets ....

the fact is that if the perception begins to develop that we are "winning" the war on terror and the risk is abating, the financial markets will view that positively.

arguments are made on both sides as to the ultimate efficacy of "hawkishness" of the bush doctrine, but for now the hawkish approach seems to be providing a more stabilizing effect than not.
