I'm reading divergent stories on the economy right now.

Bullish:
The CRB index is starting to rise after falling off a cliff in mar-apr.
Earings reports were not as bad as expected.
Bush is pushing hard for his tax plan (which i put in the bullish, short term category)

Steve Roach is unbashly bearish and sticking too his recession call for this year.

SARS situation in China is getting worse as it spreads out to the country side from the cities. Hong Kong is all but shut down. How soon before that affects our GDP?
