True. We'd have a huge death rate. Who has actually got it is another issue.

The main point is that the old idea of 2% death rate is false and we have a world-scale catastrophe on our hands if it's not killed off. 7% death rate is huge. Plus the economic dislocation that'll go with it.

The Iraqi war and WWII were trivial by comparison. Less than 1% of the world died in WWII.

One thing I don't know is what proportion of the deaths are in people under age 50 or 60? If that's high, then we are in for complete mayhem if the disease can't be stopped. Because China is a country with disproportionately many people under age 50, I fear the young-person death rate is high.

Any data?
