Sun, a lot of people on the Left believe Conspiracy Theories. They believe that the structure which maintains the American Empire, is a seamless whole, completely controlling the military, both political parties, the Fortune 500, the press, even the churches and press. It isn't so. There are memes widely shared, there is a lot of mutual back-scratching, there is (some) information withheld, but there is no Conspiracy.
Fact is, there are a lot of people in the U.S. military, and the CIA, and the State Department, and many more at Universities and the press, who are deeply sceptical of the NeoCon program, and ashamed of the regimes we prop up.
I've been reading about Israel's "secret" nuclear weapons, for years, in the mainstream U.S. press. I could dredge up links, but it's been no secret.
The smartest thing Israel could do, to improve their own security, would be to call Syria's bluff here: Agree to dismantle their WMD, and allow intrusive inspections, as long as everyone from Iran to Libya does the same. Pakistan is not a threat to Israel, but Iran and the Arab nations are. If Israel has nuclear weapons, it is only a matter of time, till a "front-line state" has them. And then Hezbollah and Hamas. The only way Israel can stop that process, is to give up her own WMD. |
