PB,

Re: Megawati talks arms with Putin

I think the world is becoming justifiably alarmed at the extraordinary and unending belligerence being hurled at it by the proto-fascist right wing in the U.S. Today, we had a media onslaught here with the discredited Newt Gingrich gaining the bully pulpit at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI). I was shocked at his preposterous proposal to neuter the State Department and transfer the U.S. foreign policy portfolio to the madmen Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Bolton & Cie.

John Le Carre wrote poignantly in the middle of January that the U.S. has gone mad. One only need to have witnessed today's Gingrichian Inferno to see that civil discourse in the U.S. is now rivaling in all aspects the sort of drums-of-war Wagnerian ubermensch rhetoric of 1930's Germany on its descent into a hellish insanity.
