And if you look at your list closely, you will see that how brutal of a dictator those people are is directly proportional to how much help they have needed from outside...there is nothing long run about it. They will not last even one generation without outside support.

Our definitions of "long run" clearly differs....Hussein spent the last 13 years with much of the world actively working against him (not just not supporting him), and he didnt seem very close to being overthrown. Castro and Quadaffi have both lost outside support but also seem a long way from losing power.

Since neither of these regimes seem to be partiucarly threatening to the outside world, we are simply waiting for them to die, in hopes that the next generation will be different.

Hard for me to see the evidence for your theory....
