By MAUREEN DOWD
This woman is one of the worst liberals writing in the Times; that's pretty damned bad company. But this article is, frankly, one lie after another:
The Bushies pretend that we don't want an all-access pass to Iraqi bases (we do);
We don't. There is absolutely no evidence to suggest that we have ANY interest in bases in in Iraq, and Rumsfeld has clearly stated the reasons why we are NOT interested in bases there.
that we are not interested in influencing the disposition of Iraqi oil (we are);
Again, no evidence. We have cut off oil to Syria, which was being provided illegally. However, there is absolutely no reason we should care how their oil is "disposed of", so long as the money goes to the Iraqi people (the effect on the United States is precisely the same regardless of how the oil is "disposed of"). Dowd shows her absolute ignorance of economics with this one.
Rick Santorum, the obnoxious Pennsylvania senator who is No. 3 in the G.O.P., equated homosexuality with incest, bigamy and polygamy.
This reference is to a statement taken totally out of context, which even I thought was inappropriate until I heard it placed IN context. Typical NY Times lying.
Unfortunately, this bag is too chicken sh*t to appear in forums where she can be called to account for her asinine remarks. The other slimeball liberal in the same category, Molly Ivins, at least will do that (although she seldom presents a cogent argument, at least she has the guts to stand up and take the questions). |
