I have a question, inspired by the anti-Realists tonight. Yes, the US supported too many bad regimes, ignored the consequences and didn't learn. Although, in context, many decisions look better when fully understood. However, let's use a real world example facing the Americans today: Saudi Arabia. Clearly the Sauds are an oppressive regime, keeping the oil wealth for themselves and not investing in the economic infrastructure for the general population. Saudi Arabia is the biggest source of terrorists and terrorist funding. The House of Saud is unstable, clearly the only reason they hold on to power is the support of the US.

Given this, what is the right strategy for American policy? What are the risks, opportunities, strengths, weakness for American strategy to work with?

Wave the magic wand and solve this problem.

Paul
