TOURISM AUTHORITY: Hot deals for jittery visitors

Published on Apr 11, 2003

Promotion launched to shore up falling arrivals at top destinations

Foreign tourists will be offered one free hotel night with the purchase of one hotel night at discounted rates ranging from US$40 (Bt1,720) to $140 for the top tourist destinations of Phuket, Samui, Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Bangkok, a source said yesterday.

The promotion will run from May 1 to July 31.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is launching the "Thailand Smile Plus" tour package today at its headquarters as part of the country's attempt to deal with the sharp drop in visitors due to jitters over Sars (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) and the Iraq war.

Perfect time to visit Thailand, Jay! Pizzas are available upon your request. Just let me know.
