Jerry,
Re: what is your opinion on the recent writings of Vest, Pitt and Lapham for example?
Pitt is one of my absolute favorites. Recently, he mentioned that the U.S. "intelligence" had identified "14,000 sites" in the run-up to war in Iraq where WMDs might be found, and they hadn't found a single active site by the middle of last week (or today, for that matter).
I questioned Pitt's fact, and emailed him. He returned my email with the appropriate verifying URL within 12 hours. Most impressive. Pitt is honest, courageous, intelligent and destined to be a leader in any gulag that the Fuhrer assigns him to.
*** Lewis Lapham, as far as I am concerned, needs an new copy of Strunk & White. harpers.org His elegant prose is for someone with way more time on his hands than me....though he's certainly on the right team. I really like the work of his editor/associate at Harper's Monthly, John R. MacArthur. Reading MacArthur's book, "The Second Front" was akin to losing my virginity about how maliciously evil the Bush clan really is.
*** Vest? Who is Vest? The Best in the West, Vest? Who's Vest? :)
[Aside: Had you provided some URLs to the significant writings of these authors you mention, we'd not be asking such elementary questions, or making such banal generalizations, but rather actually be discussing the decline and fall of America in all its ghastly glory. TIA for any linx.] |
