LOL If I knew how to do it, I would! Wouldn't you love to see their replies to that?

Have you seen this??? Shocker! Why did we hire a German Co. to paint the White House and the Pentagon?

German Company Fights to Save Pentagon Paint Job

By Erik Kirschbaum

BERLIN (Reuters) - A German company supplying paint for the White House said on Wednesday it was confident a deal to paint the Pentagon (news - web sites) would survive a patriotic ambush from a U.S. congressman angry over German opposition to the Iraq (news - web sites) war.

Peter Neri, director of Keimfarben GmbH, told Reuters he was dismayed an Ohio congressman wanted to sabotage a verbal deal worth $150,000 he had won to paint the world's largest low-rise office building.

"I'm confident we'll seal the deal," said Neri, whose paint firm in Augsburg, southern Germany, is 125 years old.

"I'd never dream of using international political arguments for a business contract. But we've been doing business in America for 20 years and are used to that."

The specialist company is also supplying paint to repaint the White House, a project spread through 2004 because work is only possible when President Bush (news - web sites) is out of town.

"I can relate to the American firms fighting for the contract," Neri said. "I actually ought to send them a 'thank you' note because they're making our company well-known. I never would have dreamed of all this free advertising."

A Republican lawmaker, Steve LaTourette of Ohio, recently questioned why a German company would get a Pentagon contract when German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder was among the most vocal opponents of the U.S.-led war in Iraq.

The Defense Department in Washington has since said it was reconsidering whether to buy the Keimfarben paint.

The company has supplied paint for prestigious buildings around the world, including Singapore's Raffles Hotel, England's Windsor Castle and Moscow's Bolshoi Theater.

But Neri said it once inadvertently sold paint for one of former Iraq President Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s palaces.

"An Augsburg painter bought paint from us and went to Baghdad with it. We didn't have any influence on that one."
