I'm inclined to agree that some elements in Iraq regard us as 'neutral'. They are pleased with Saddam Hussein's removal, but still view our motives with some suspicion.

Under the circumstances I think their views are understandable.

I do believe that once the US establishes trust with Iraqis that this will change to an overall more positive attitude.

Once things have settled down in Iraq the Iraqis themselves will start asking the questions they need to ask.

Questions like, "Why was France & Russia supporting the Hussein regime. Why did the UN not do more? Why were the other Arab nations supportive of Hussein?"

In time, I believe they will realize that the US is the best friend they've got.
