Hi JohnM,

To complete your historical review of the war in the desert (WW2) may I suggest the works of an early "embedded historian" Spike Milligan. Spike Milligan was actually an artillery gunner, and later became a famous UK comedian. He was in the Tunisian campaign, and later in the Italian campaign, where is was wounded (suffered shell shock) near Cassino.
