' ... offend ... embarrass, distress .. ' - these are terms for which judgment will always be highly subjective ... and for which tolerance should vary widely, little or no tolerance on stock threads for example, much wider limits on goof-off silly-bugger coffee shop threads

What if a poster's entire body of work embarrasses one for one's species? ... that'll lead to distress, guaranteed ... and could well offend us more delicate types, too
