I have followed Gingrich for a long time. He had his "down" when he lost the Speakership and had personal problems. You will notice that all the Media stories on this speech make sure you know about this.

The guy is a crusader. You go back to his getting in Congress in 78. He was one of the first to take advantage of CSPAN to make speeches from the well. He took on and forced the resignation of the Dem speaker, and proved he was a crook. Until Bush, I don't know of any Republican who was hated as much by the Dems. But without him, the Repubs would never have got the House in 94.

I watched him give this speech yesterday, and I think he is outraged at the way State is treating our Foreign Policy, and wants to change it. He probably cleared it with Cheney and Rumsfeld, but not necessarily.
