"Gawd Help Amerika!"? It strikes me you can only fall out with a certain percentage of the population. Both at home and abroad. Maggie Thatcher learned that lesson the hard way with poll tax. Yes, perhaps the USA can fall out with the rest of the world providing it has got strong home support. From what I see though about 50% of Americans are not too keen about the road Bush is on. The British Empire did well for a long time, lots of nasty little wars, but the home crowd loved it overall. Then we got some real casualties in WW1. Lost a lot in WW2 as well. It had been such a long time since Waterloo. That little scrape we had in the colonies (July 4th etc) hardly rated as a war either :-)
