Hi Frank,

I organized the Tuesday March 11 IEEE 802 evening tutorial on 'mesh', with prezos available at ieee802.org

802.15 and 802.16a already contain 'mesh' [defined as spanning tree] capabilities, and eventually 802.11, together with 802.1 security, will make a recommended practice on 'ad hoc, mobile' [defined as spanning tree fails] networking.

I doubt streetlight transmitters will cost as much as $2000, Metricom's didn't.
