Hi E,

and please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to your last post...

E, I am unable to give you an accurate answer to your questions because I try not to mix what is traditionally considered "ird" with the accurate meaning of the word...

having said that, I will address your questions as best as I can...

to your first question " is the ird of the family..." .... I am inclined to say yes...

for your second question "what are other ways..."... well, the Qura'an stipulates that in such a case the woman should be prevented from coming into contact with others until they agree to change their behavior in accordance with Islam...

the stories of a man killing his wife or daughter because she had a relation with another man are unfortunately true... however, such stories are not the norm, nor do they reflect the behavior of over one Billion Muslim... some men in some cultures take matters to extreme to avenge infidelity by a wife or a daughter... Islam did not sanction such acts... and it is important to discern the difference.

E, I am sorry if I am unable to provide you with better answers. I always try to separate culture from religion and sometimes the lines are not very clear because of my limited knowledge from an Islamic perspective.

regards
amein
