Sun decides for chip from Dresden

The manufacturer of high speed computers, Sun Microsystems, wants to
build on Tuesday the introduced new processor Opteron of AMD into its
computers.
As the restaurant week reports, Sun boss Scott McNealy thereby decided
against the competition products of Intel. So far Sun for economical
entrance servers uses also chips of market leader Intel.

Besides Sun wants to make also own software available like the
operating system Solaris and the InterNet programming language Java
for the new chip. With the Opteron hopes to be able to become
independent McNealy of Intel.

The new chip is the first AMD processor with modern 64-Bit-Technologie
and exclusively in the AMD work Dresden is manufactured.
