That makes sense from a project efficacy standpoint; however, probably not how QCOM will want things.

True, but I tend to think that it would really lock NXTL into CDMA. A single integrated CDMA Terrestrial/Sat Asic would be a lot neater than some kind of hybrid.

Qualcomm would end up with a larger percentage ownership in a debt free Globalstar than they had with GLP PI's. (~8% vs. 6.5%)

And of course, from the Bondholders prospective.. An IPO led by McCaw with a debt free fully launched constellation would draw a lot more attention and interest than some Thermo investment firm.
